Santa Cruz Nomad
Is this the ultimate 'do it all' bike?
Having spent the weekend on the trails in Afan Forest with the Nomad I had some initial scepticism, especially with the climbing credentials of a full susser with 6.5 inches of travel. I was soon to discover that the long steep climbs I had to endure did nothing to upset the Nomad. The VPP (Virtual Pivot Point) does an outstanding job of keeping the frame in check, as long as you stay in the saddle you'll realise just how effective the VPP system is.
On the technical descents the Nomad is truly in it's element, the ride is smooth yet responsive. If you usually ride a full sus Marathon/XC Bike with 4" travel then you will be blown away with the extra speed you can take down the tricky descents. It's this added confidence the Nomad gives you that makes you want to take the trails by the scruff of the neck!
If you're the sort of rider who wants a bike that isn't phased by the climbs or descents then this should be on your shortlist. Plus you will have an awesome looking bike that will fill you with pride whenever you look at it!
This Nomad comes in at a very respectable 30lbs, specced out with the Factory 'X' Kit, which includes:
- Rock Shox Pike 454 Air U Turn
- Fox Float R Shock
- Hope Mono M4 brakes
- SRAM X9 mech and shifters
- Hope Pro 2 wheelsets
- WTB finishing kit
The Nomad with this spec would cost around £3100.00
